I don't understand the cap-less tanks. Is anyone that lazy?

It saves the manufacturers a few bucks per car by not using caps. Capless fill will be on all new vehicles before too long.

This is the Fords demonstration. They due make a few good points as far as leaving it on the trunk, or leaving it at the gas station, but overall it comes down to people being lazy and not paying

Nice sales pitch; but he didn't mention what the savings will be to Ford on each car. Ford has over 200 factories worldwide capable of producing between 8-10,000 vehicles per day in total - on the low end of production and cost savings, and assuming a 300 day work schedule per year, they'll probably save around $4.8mil annually by going capless on every vehicle. That's the reason they're doing it; not because some of their customers can't manage to turn the cap 1/4 turn to remove and reinstall it.
