Good point Rob - I noticed that too. Lead driver shouldn't stop until you can see the last car in the line (meaning they can see you and all the other cars). Lead driver also always needs a radio - I've got a spare or two.

I think the line was over a mile long with turns and hills. We did have 22 cars... It may have been hard for the leader to see everyone. It wasn't like he slammed on the brakes either and he did have a radio.

No I understand he didn't slam on the brakes or intend to cause any issues. You guys said you've never had a cruise this large so as they say, $hit happens, LOL.

Re: Toy Drive kick off cruise to Woolaroc Nov. 20th
Ok well, I was the lead car on the way to woolaroc and I'm not sure where this happened? I had a radio, was announcing all stops and turns well before they came. I think it had to be the sheer amount of cars in attendance and on the road. If not, and it's just me then I apologize for any poor driving on my part as the leader. Next time we will have a mandatory 3 second rule for all cars and make the line even longer.

Re: Toy Drive kick off cruise to Woolaroc Nov. 20th
Davids fault!! I remember this hill....luckily I was near the front and saw what we were doing. I looked in my rearview at the top of the hill and was like "I hope everyone is looking forward hehe"
No worries. Everyone try and bring a Walkee that way we can communicate....and spread out a little when on the open road. Will probably have to stay closer in the city to catch the lights.

No harm done Dbl...seriously. And we were pretty spaced out and paying attention so nothing happened.

Re: Toy Drive kick off cruise to Woolaroc Nov. 20th
And I didn't intend to call out David for this incident - everyone in the line was spaced properly and paying attention (as they should have been), and nothing happened. Rob simply made a good point about awareness that I was just trying to expand upon - the lead car (in any cruise event) should be aware of the cars behind when stopping/slowing down. The prime responsibility falls upon each individual driver, however - everyone needs to watch their speed and keep a safe distance from the car in front at all times. Not everyone in the line will have a radio, so good driving by each car trumps radio announcements. And my statement that the lead driver should have a radio stems from our cruise after the museum to the casino for lunch - there was much confusion when we drove right by the turnoff for the casino, thus necessitating another stop on the highway. That could have been avoided had that lead driver (not David M.) been equipped with a radio.

I will parrot what everyone has already said. Another point. Sure was fun blowing the cobwebs out of my car after having only putted around town and letting it set in the garage so much lately. Too much fun!

shit happends, it gets hard when you have more cars. doesnt matter if its on a hill, a curve or on the highway. the more cars the more the guys in back need to pay attention. on the mustangfest cruise there were 20 cars and it was sporty. when we picked it up to 108 cars it got down right scary in the back. i dont there was one of us toward the back that didnt have to utilize our anti-locks. and that was on the highway. no one was driving crazy or hauling ass. its just a chain reaction when the guy in the front taps the brakes or speeds up a little, by the time it filters to the back you are flooring it or lockin them up. i dont think ive ever drove my car as hard as i did from san antonio to corpus.
