Post by Fitti88 4/2/2010, 11:42 am

hey gang,

i have been messing round with my seats tryn to fix the short in my driver side recaro. WIth no luck i might add, anyhoo.... i have a slow power drain on the battery. The last guy to look at it said the positive terminal chord needed to be bigger, so he doubled over the wire on itself and said that would do it, but it is still draining the battery very slowly, takes bout 4 to 5 days for battery to be totally dead. does this sound right bout the bigger terminal chord? can anyone check this for me round here and help me fix this problem, i despretely want to go to the eureka mustang show and want my FITTi to be ready with no hassles.

I don't think it's the cable.... Sound like you have an assesorie that is not turning off. It really could be anything... a short, the radio, etc. It will just take time and a good multimeter to find it. I start with anything that was added. Aftermarket radio... etc.

Electrical problem can be time consuming to trace.

I would guess somthing with a radio or perhaps an interior light. I know those interior lights for the vert tend to go out and can slow drain the battery. I even saw the mirrored light on the sun visor on a vert drain the battery over a couple days.

If you have an aftermarket system I would start there. Sounds like the remote for the amps is not hooked up properly. Pretty simple fix if that is what it is.

Don't forget the diode in the alt. can let it back feed to ground.Easy check, take off cable and put meter between the post and cable.

Take your multi meter with the vehicle turned off and check at each fuse this can also show you where your drain is
