6 CYL Mustang or not
If I wanted to restore a classic 65-68 Mustang would it be smart to get a 6 cylinder since they are cheaper? I would pull out the engine any way I could just upgrade at that point. I assume there are other parts that would have to be upgraded if I moved up in HP? I have no interest in keeping it stock either inside or outside. I want a new mustang in a classic body and learn as I go. Maybe I would be biting off more that I can chew. So is it smart to just go with the cheaper 6 cylinder since I am not looking for a matching number car.

If I were to do a classic 6 .... I'd restore it to stock. keep in mined, the original 6 cylinders had a 4 lug setup. So... if you ever want to up grade ... basically the running gear would have to be swapped out.

IF you are just buying to play and slap a fun motor in,,,,,definetly get the 6...... Leave the unmolested or rare or decent V8's to be pampered.
From what I have seen at the auctions is.... original=big bucks not original= nothing

I go that route with the 6. I want to to the same when i get my own place. I want to have an old classic stang with new school technology in her. I just want to make her my way. Screw the original. Terminator engine, 6 speed tranny, 9" rear end, Bear brake all around. Keep the classic dash, auto meter or VDO gauges, new style black leather seats, and of course the cage with harness. Exterior will have different combination of spoilers and scoops and wing from different style of mustangs.
