Mods vs. Rods 2010...
Just thought I'd start a thread to see if there's any interest in a Mods/Rods 3. Someone posted something on deadhorse about it not being on the new TRP schedule. I would like to see it happen. Its a fun event even though the mod cars are probably undergunned.
I think Paul said something last year about the BMMC helping to organize the next MvR if needed. I think that it is a good idea for as many Mustang clubs as possible to get involved in helping out. Obviously it will never be huge like the Shelby meet, but it could get as big as the annual Buick vs Ford race at Thunder Valley.
What do you guys think?

Cool deal Paul! I was hoping you'd say that. I started some threads on a couple other forums asking people what their interest level was. Hopefully people will speak up and get involved so this event can grow. It has potential to be a really cool thing.

You mean there are other forums?! :) I like the idea of getting everyone involved! It will be interesting since TRP is going NHRA this year.
I'll PM you my contact info. Just call me. We can figure it out.

Re: Mods vs. Rods 2010...
I think the most important step of all of this is to get the rules out ahead of time. Last year was a cluster because they decided to change it up at the last minute. We need find a sponsor to pay for the track rental, Maybe BHF. The money at the gate can then go to pay for prizes, trophies, shirts, etc. We need to have a shirt for the event as well.

Re: Mods vs. Rods 2010...
the shirts last year were cool
weve started a thread on about 4 sites now, prob what we will do is since this started as a OKDHM event we will post up a poll over there and on the other forums as well then once votes are in for a date and how the race is to ran we will post it all up and go from there
need to see if anyone wants to bring out a dyno for the day too as there were a group of guys that wanted to see that last year
maybe a highest/lowest HP/TQ prize/trophy, maybe a car show to go along with it?

Im OK with the Diesel shootout as well, but maybe seperately. Seemed the trucks were breaking down the track a little.

Ricer face off, that will draw a crowd. Nothing gets me going quite like the sound of a finely tuned weedeater motor.

Re: Mods vs. Rods 2010...
pretty much what im talking about,, just trying to get something sort of planned so that we can hit up our DFWstang brothers etc
this thing pulls in quite a few people from out of state too, last year we didnt have a set plan so a bunch of them didnt show up
right now lots of drama on OKDHM as far as how to run some races this year, the one main issue is no one wants to lose, someone has to,
the mods/rods was setup in the beginning like b vs f fastest vs fastest no indexes no dial ins just come out get a few test passes and race heads up 1 point for the winners side
no seems like ppl dont like that i think mods/rods is a way to get to see ppl we dont see everyday, get to meet new people, have an all ford meet only, plus just another day at the track
right now its rods 1 mods 1 last year that white cobra was badass but the pushrod that would have prob won broke down
nowdays with the performance parts for the mods no reason we shouldnt see some more 10sec maybe 9 sec mod cars out there

Re: Mods vs. Rods 2010...
The mods just need to get some more of the GT500 owners out there and let them play along. I was the 6th fastest Mod at 12.3 last year. The 6th fastest mod is in the low 11's. I like to go out and race, but I would like to keep it somewhat interesting. When I am giving up a second, why should I even show up at the line?
I would suggest running it like Mid America. Have a dial in time. If you break out of your dial in time you lose. Prevents sandbagging and makes it a little more interesting for people to watch. In reality if you want to make it a big event, you want to make it an event that people will come out to watch.

Re: Mods vs. Rods 2010...
look at F vs B
its not a "dial in" even
i guess what will piss people off if it ends up with a 14 sec car coming out on top when this is a Shootout race
see this is what we are getting into over on OKDHM why should all the fast cars show up beat the shit out of thier cars and get beat by some turd, costs a lot of money to race the fast cars
we should just have it as a mods/rods event and just race it like it was first year but have more races than just one each and given one point per car for win
maybe do it fastest mod vs fastest rod then pair em up after that i dunno there is no real way to satisfy everyone
