Shorty Headers? Who has them...
Can anyone chime in on the experience they have had with shorty headers? Since I have a side exhaust my concern would it would increase the exhaust note. That's cool when you are leaving that note behind but not when you are piping next to your ear... Also ceramic vs. Stainless? I have to go shorty because of space requirements and if you are tracking my other thread you know that the labor will be free since there is no Engine. :)

Re: Shorty Headers? Who has them...
Is there a reason your going with headers? Your shorties flow pretty well from the factory....there are minimal gains with shorties shorties. Might hear a bit of an exhaust note change. Its longtubes or nothing in my book hehe.
Justin has shorties on his Satin Silver.
Ceramic will always be more expensive But thats what my choice would be. Stainless builds heat...heat is bad :)

Re: Shorty Headers? Who has them...
Hey Grab, The reason for the shorties would be the side exhaust on the cervini. . I would also be cutting off those catalytic converters. (4)
The ones I have now look like headers off my tractor. They are rusted big time but not be enough reason to change them. Just looking at options of replacing them now since the engine is out.

Re: Shorty Headers? Who has them...
If your just wanting to spend the money for the astetics I would say go for it. I wouldnt buy them for much of a HP TQ gain.
You will gain more from deleting your catalytic converters than the headers IMO.
But while the motor is out....If you have the coin ceramic shorties would improve the look and slight performance of the vehicle.
Go for it basically comes down to what your willing to pay for the gains expected.

I believe Hector also installed shorties as well. Not sure how much it changed the sound of the car. I would be curious to know.

I hear ya. I am starting to cool off on the idea if it affects the volume of the exhaust. I worked hard putting that Dynamat in for sure and dont want to lose my gains. I am pretty sure if they cut those 4 converters off I would be booming.

Re: Shorty Headers? Who has them...
he as the Cervinis side exhaust. Clearance with longtubes is an issue I believe. So the long tubes are out Ryan

Re: Shorty Headers? Who has them...
Yeah I checked with Cervini and the angle drops the entire exhaust to low. I might go with replacing all the pulleys on the front of the Engine and call it a day. There is a big Rusty pulley at the bottom of the engine that looks like I stole it off a John Deere tractor. I am going to look at that and just hold fast on the headers.
I am hoping to have this car ready to roll in time for the Fall Trip to where ever we are going.

Re: Shorty Headers? Who has them...
the stainless will rust out after a while. If i do it again I'll go with ceramic. I did gain a deeper sound from it. I was told that you loose in hp or torque??? from 4000 rpm up. I had the JBA shorties (p/n 1675SJS). I don't think you could slide the engine back in with the shorties back on the engine. it will rub or hit sliding back in the engine . they have to mounted from the bottom. pain in the butt to do. especially if it was my fist time doing it. wow. I learn.
SOOOOO go ceramic.

Re: Shorty Headers? Who has them...
Hey Kevin... Keep in mind, the underdrive pulleys free up the power by slowing down the speed of the accessories. That's great for NA cars... but since you're supercharged, it will also slow down your supercharger and lower boost. Thus negating any gains the pulleys would provide.

Re: Shorty Headers? Who has them...
I would recommend getting your stock manifolds jet hot coated or ceramic coated for making it pretty under there and have your stock pullies powder coated and call it a day. Will look great and won't break the bank.
