Curb checked my new rim (almost cried) HELP!
I had a little help from my daughter this morning in curb checking the Stallion, took some paint off my 2 week old rims, anyone know an inexpensive fix for this? It makes me sad. :-(

Depending on how bad you can just use touch up paint. We need to see the damage.

We usually upload the pics to www.Photobucket.com then just copy and paste the IMG code into the reply.

Re: Curb checked my new rim (almost cried) HELP!
Thank you, any help I can get would be great, I found a repalcement to the extent of $189 + shipping + mount and balance tire.........this was my daughters doing.......what does $300 come out to in grounding days? lol
Re: Curb checked my new rim (almost cried) HELP!
hmmm who does wheel repair? A paint and body guy that does wheels might be your best bet....could sand downt he rough and reshoot and clear it.

Yeah I called the guy that did my paint and a couple of shops, they said that you'll never get paint to stick like the factory did, and it may not match in the "not that shiny" factor. So I think I'm stuck buying a replacement.

You could use the wheel as a Spare wheel/tire? so if you have a flat...your still big pimpn!

Re: Curb checked my new rim (almost cried) HELP!
that's not a bad idea, as long as its on the front, i put 20x8.5 on the front and 20x9.5 on the rear with directional tires! That was a bright one, lol, no rotating or anything. There all stuck where they are. Maybe TireRack will cut me a break, ive spent a few G's with them already this year.
Re: Curb checked my new rim (almost cried) HELP!
Wow, that is pretty bad, it may be able to get fixed, probably better just to get new wheel.

Kinda hard to tell. But fixable yes. Will it be perfect.... no. So it will depend on your tolerance.

Re: Curb checked my new rim (almost cried) HELP!
tolerance? lol um no, wasn't born with that, i'm about as OCD as they come, but I will take it by BAPC, see what they say. Also I noticed Sunday is looking pretty nice, are there any plans anywhere?
Re: Curb checked my new rim (almost cried) HELP!
My wife curb checked all four of her stock rims on here 08 eclipse gt. Here is what I did to fix them:
If it is just a light scrape without actually penetrating (Yeah I just said penetrating) into the rim, you can just sand down that part and use some high gloss rim paint with some clear coat. Definately markoff what you want painted and what you do not. Try and match the paint exactly.
If the rim is gouged into, then sand down that area and put JB Weld in the gouge and smooth it out. Then sand it. More in. Sand it. Repeat until the gouge is gone and the surface is perfectly smooth. then take it to BAPC and have them sand blast and powdercoat the rim. They did a great job on my wifes. I can put up pics if you would like.

Re: Curb checked my new rim (almost cried) HELP!
Thanks Josh, that may be an option too. Where do I get Enkei rim paint in matt black?
Re: Curb checked my new rim (almost cried) HELP!
JB Weld???? Josh. Have you spent too much time starring into the sun because you don't have tint? :)

Re: Curb checked my new rim (almost cried) HELP!
I give helpful information and you guys rag on me... I hate you all.
Dudes JB weld is much better than epoxy filler or any thing else I tried. They either chipped or didn't stick. The first time I either sprayed it with the hose or whatever it would come off. I will post pics. lol. Trust me it works!!! I read and read all about it and I thought of JB Weld.

My wifes rims are enkei and I just used the gloss black paint from advanced auto. I used my paint gun to do it.

Re: Curb checked my new rim (almost cried) HELP!
Oh yeah. If you take the rims to BAPC they charge 35 dollars a rim to powdercoat and 45 to sandblast and then powdercoat.
