Cervini sells pretty high quality stuff. If the painter can't get paint to stick then the painter is doing somthing wrong.

It doesn't seem to be the quality but the material. They think the material emits a vapor that the primer doesn't seal.I'll call them to see what procedure to use to paint.

Cervini parts Empty Re: Cervini parts

Post by KevinGT 12/5/2008, 11:50 pm

When my car was first purchased the original owner had the tungsten paint stripped and the complete car repainted. I have the Eleanor Cervini C-300 kit and really love the look. Recently I had the front bumper repainted and my painter did mention in conversation that the bumper has to be specially treated and is not as simple as sanding and spraying. That Cervini has instructions on doing it right.

The Cervini parts are first rate both top and bottom. The hood was as smooth on the underside as the top side and I went ahead and had it sprayed as well with stripes and flames. It you are not happy with the end result it is most likely the installation and not the parts.

and more to your point. I have the upper and lower scoops and they have performed well. They are painted the same high gloss Tungsten (shade of purple) that the rest of the car is. Those pieces are 3M taped on which I don't care for but they have not had an issue with the paint.

cervinis parts have alot of mold release on them. a really vigorous washing with soapy warm water will work, but you have to make sure the surface is free from any slick feeling. i have lower and upper scoops and the prep time took about 2 hours... and that was myself and my dad doing it (not counting primer, thats just washing and sanding time).

what are the paint instructions if i may ask. is it something i should wait to do the basic prep myself although the hood i got will need some minor repair since i got it for a killer deal. has a tiny crack in it and will need some glass repair before paint, but the rest of the hood is fine according to my lady.

Your hood is fiberglass. These parts are urethane and require plastic prep, urethane primer with flex additive and adhesion promoter.I already have 4 hours of prep and no primer.

hahaha yeah that's a hard one. see the little button that says quote next to everyone's post. push it and you can quote anyone you want. after you quote you can even change what the person said to mess with them

you can also edit a post you have writen yourself rather than starting an entire new post by pushing the button on your post that says "edit" (duh). i know i'm an arse
