2007 black and cilver shelby gt. exactly like my last one except its a 5 speed manual...i WILL NEVER GO BACK TO AUTO, im having so much fun just shifting its amazing, i got on the highway and let it rip on the way home HOLY CRAP. this magical feeling i have been missing!
i need to start ordering parts now, since i have to lift the engine to put in the long tubes would it be wise to go ahead and replace the engine mounts wiht solid mounts? also whats the recommendations on pipes, i was going wiht 3 inch jba's you think i should go with catted or uncatted? im going to be running striahg pipes o it will be loud. also can you tach weld silver ceramic to stainless steel?

Re: NAAAATALIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats Jared! Good to hear it worked out for you.
Why are you wanting to start with the longtubes?
IMO I would start with a tune and tuner, Gears, UDP's, CMCV deletes, Upper and lower control arms, One piece drive shaft, mufflers. The Exhaust really isn't the weak link in these cars.
If you must get long tubes you need to ask yourself if you are planning to keep it naturally aspirated or are you going to supercharge it? If your answer is N/A then 1 5/8" long tubes will work just fine. If your answer is SC then you need 1 3/4 tubes. I would personally go with an off road H or X mid pipe and leave the stock after cat exhaust with the exception of new mufflers.
I'm not sure why you would need to weld anything as most good kits are direct bolt in. No welding necessary.
If you are in there for long tubes you may as well do the motor mounts. I wouldn't suggest solid but rather a set from Prothane. They have different durometer rating urathane mounts to choose from.
Again just my educated humble opinion.

Re: NAAAATALIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way to go Jared!!! I wouldnt say go directly to Longtubes just yet. First things first, You need to get the car breathing better with a Cold Air Kit/Tuner. Then I would move into an O/R H or X like David suggested, next 4.10 gears!!! Next CMCV Delete Plates......then lets start getting those tires to plant...with some Lower control arms!!!
Thant should get you on your way!!!

Re: NAAAATALIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well i want to get that loud rumble back that i had with my old car, it was running loudmouths but im really not sure what i'll do right now i guess having to send it to the dynoshop multiple times i kinda unavoidable since my cash flow isnt unlimited. but from what you have all told me, i think im going to start with a tuner, maybe a set of gears, i have to drive to okc once a month so im wondering if 4:10's might be overkill, maybe 3:73, i've never done gears so i wouldnt know for sure, im going to go off of the advice i get off of you guys. im also gonna do cmcv deletes first. archangles looking VERY inviting right now
was wondering about the welding becuase i wanted to do silver ceramic lt's then have a stainless steel x pipe(silver ceramic x-pipe is 1k dollars with the cats 800 without)
i like having the pipes tach welded but your right that shouldnt be neccesary

Re: NAAAATALIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jared 410's with your manual car should be just right. I thought mine would be overkill too but turns out they were perfect. If you go 373 you'll wish you had done the 410's. You'll be glad you did.

Re: NAAAATALIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't worry about the gas. If you wanted gas mileage you should have bought a honda. Seriously though the mileage is ok with the 410's. I actually saw better gas mileage around town with them. The 355's that came stock in mine were keeping me in 3rd too long. If you keep your foot out of it you should see somthing like 24-28 mpg on the highway. I average 21 mpg with both city and highway if I am conservative in my driving style.

Re: NAAAATALIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jared....go with 4.10s You currently have 3.55 gears correct? if you only jump to 3.73 thats not much of a difference than what you have. 4.10s are perfect
I see 23-24 MPG on the highway and 17-18mpg in the city.
If your getting a tuner you might want to thrown on a CAI kit as well...take advantage of more air.
Here is what I think you should do in order
1) CAI (C&L or JLT II) and Tuner (XCAL3) Brenspeed or Archangel Tune
2) Off-Road H or X
3) 4.10 gears (make sure their FRPP true ford gears..no motive. Have Benji at Bob Hurley Ford install them for $200)
4) Short throw Shifter (if you dont already have one)
5) Underdrive Pulleys
6) CMCV Delete Plates
after all this has been installed and you still want to go with long tubes...I say go for it and sell your O/R x or h to someone to recoup your money.
rear mufflers are your choice...flowmasters sound pretty good with and off road H or X....Justin David and Paul have this setup

Re: NAAAATALIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think im oing to do delete plates, underdirve pulley, gears and tuner first. already have a hurst short throw. i'll get that al out of the way and then we'll go from there.
basicaly i want the lts cause i want to supercharge it eventually...but i may instead opt to buy a terminator and have that as my whored track car.
either way i want that loud roar back :)

Re: NAAAATALIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
don't forget everyone. it always helps if we first know how much of his money we're spending i like spending other peoples money. so here it goes
my list:
cai & tuner
jlt & xcal = 550 shipped to you with 3 tunes from bamachips. not sure how much archangel charges.
i'd get all the 91 octane tunes
4.10 gears should be about 350-500 installed depending on install
UDP's 200+/-
Axle backs. completely depends on what sound you like and not what anyone else likes.
Mid pipe. a catless x pipe will be pretty raspy. i have the frpp x and it only has a slight rasp when i'm really getting on it.
an H pipe will give you the old school sound

Re: NAAAATALIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i like the unrestricted sound of muffler deletes, its what was on my last sgt. im not concerned about exceeding the sound restrictions(im gonna exceed them i just dont want to go too far over) thats why i want to use lts and a catted x pipe i know what it will sound like. i have never heard an h-pipe, who has one here?
i have heard a straiht pipe gt500 and they sound really good. i love the sound of lts.
yeah i have 3:55's on it stock, it comes with a CAI from the factory, a good one no less
