Re: TUNE AND SPRINGS
I had a question about the CAI and such. When i get my im going with a full on bbk system. I'll be switching out the for the BBK CAI and the BBK throttle body (I can't believe how restrictive the stocks TBs are). Now my question is should I go ahead and get a TB spacer or not and will i require a tune after the install? I got deployed almost right after I got my new stang and I've heard they are kinda fickle when it comes to changes with the intake system. Thanks guys I'm ust trying to get a heads up so when I come home I can dive right into it. or rather have my brother do it since ill be wrapped up for awhile lol... thanks again and later

Re: TUNE AND SPRINGS
you will have to have a tune on the bbk cai. i wouldnt switch out the throttle bodies, lots of owners have had a lot of problems with the bbk throttle body. i have one and i haven't had any problems but if you search the mustang forums a lot of folks have had problems with them, i wouldn't change it knowing what i know now. now the gt 500 TB would probably be a better buy. TB spacers have not shown any useful gains. none of us have them. if you buy your cai from brenspeed they will send you an update to your tune. assuming you have the xcal already.

Re: TUNE AND SPRINGS
Thanks for the info Doc, I'll look into that GT 500 TB. Have you done header swap on these? and if so how did that go? I'll be upgrading that shortly after the intake system.

I second not going with a TB space...gains are minimal if any. As for the throttlebody...your stock is good to around 500hp I believe...it isnt that restrictive at all. The upper intake is the main problem with the CMCV plates. Spend the money on CMCV delete plats to open up the ports in the intake...you should net about 10 RWHP....this does require a tune. ALso another option is the Steeda Underdrive pulleys which is good for another 6-9 RWHP.
As for the Header install...I would definitely go with Long Tubes and depending on whether you will go Forced induction later will determine which size to purcase. Now as for the install...Ive heard it can be a real pain. Motor mount needs to be unbolted (good time to change them to poly if your going to ) and the engine has to be raised a few inches. Doc did it himself and says its not that bad of an install. Just takes some patience.
But if your going to get any throttle body the GT500 is a pretty good one...but to take advantage of it....Cams and headwork would be a plus. Other than that for the amount of money you pay for minimal results isnt worth it in my opinion

Re: TUNE AND SPRINGS
the headers weren't to bad, check out tacobills writeup on mustange source forums, i did mine by myself in the garage. if you have any thoughts about motor mounts do those at the same time. they are a real pain to do after the longtubes are in place, you almost have to take them off to get the motor mounts on.
