The new ride
Hey guys what's up? Well o sold the fox body a week ago or so and picked up a new project and just comPleted it today.
I found a 94 Gt with a leaky head gasket... This car also came with a blower ':-) I replaced the headgaskets and all in the motor. I used felpro "Race" headgaskets and ARP head bolts. The rest of the motor is completely stick with the exeption of a full Msd ignition system, a couple of the necessary gauges O/r x pipe and dynamax bullets. The exhaust sounds pretty good but I may change the mufflers to a cat back system. Just was pretty excited that none of the internals had ever been touched.
When I removed the heads I could still very well notice crosshatching on the cylinder walls. The motor has 130k on it.
Most of all pumped it's still the 5 liter I've always liked. Otherwise I would of never sold the fox.
I did a compression test on the motor today and everything turned out as I expected it would. Of course not the number of a new motor but my cylinders read between 13-140 psi ':-)
So I decided to go ahead and put the blower on it. It's a powerdyne with the 6 pound pulley and has had the race rebuild from what I've been told.( My evidence I'd the noticeably balanced impeller) it was crazy how much more power the car made that I could feel. The sc put out exactly 6 lbs of boost, it seems very efficient. If I want more I will try the 9lb pulley that I have for it also. I plan on having it tuned on the 6lb pulley but am looking for Somone to possibly to tune around here..... I have called a certain shop in Tulsa but I never get a return phone call. If anyone has any info on any tuning around please let me know.
Hope to see ou guys around before it gets to cold out there!

Re: The new ride
Kurtis at Archangel as tuned quite a few supercharged 5.0Ls. I would give him a call. Or better yet just stop in as that is the best way to catch him.

There it is. I still have lots of cleaning to do yet but it should turn out pretty decent. I may keep this one.for a while anyways. ':-)

Re: The new ride
I would get some mounts from prothane or energy suspension, and I'd also just stop by Archangel and talk to Kurtis. Forget trying to call.

Re: The new ride
Good looking ride. I have seen that car before. It use to be parked at a business around the corner from us here at Hilti. Haven't seen it for a while, glad to see it has made its way into good hands. As I remeber the car sounded pretty good.

Got the timing straightened out but I'm still chasing what seems to be a small problem just annoying the %#}* out of me. ':-)
I am getting a little oil on top of my right side valve cover..I think it's actually just blow by from the intake manifOld. There might be a cracked line or something? Hate that I have to yak the manifold of to check..
What you guys think??

Re: The new ride
Realizing how much predictive text makes you seem illiterate... Lol
Anyways..trying to decide how I want to build this car without having to go back and forth to the dyno so frequent. I'm wanting to make some more changes in the future. First thing is I'm thinking gears will be changed from the factory 3:08's to 3:73 or something close to that. Im really wantig to gear for the power that i would like to make. I would like to see around 380 to the wheels or so to begin with. What you guys think would would be the easiest way to accomplish this?

Re: The new ride
The oil might be the PCV hose going to the manifold. 380rwhp or more on a 5.0 will cost you if you stick with the supercharger. A 347 with some good heads should get you there.

Re: The new ride
Thanks, I have thought about a 347 but I would like to try and stay with the original displacement of the motor. Maybe my hp goal is to high? Thought it might be s little easier because of the sc actually.

Re: The new ride
Well even with a h/c/i swap without the Powerdyne you are looking at roughly 280. I guess it depends on the power you make with it and the mods. The built 347 would definitely get you there. If youre stock with just a Powerdyne right now you are probably sitting around the same number so you probably wouldnt be too far off after adding those mods. Then again, almost 400rwhp on a two bolt main engine with stock fasteners is pushing it. People do it all the time but thats getting up there in my opinion.

Oic..got ya. That would make sense. Lol
Are all the splines the same for 8.8 rear end gears? Or are they mostly year specific?
