Well I finally tracked it down... Under boost the oil dipstick is popping out forcing oil to reflect onto the left valve cover..... Really been bugging me.. Any ideas?

Sounds like your pressurizing the crankcase. Which means your forcing air past the rings.

How much boost are you making? And I'm assuming stock lower end?

Something like a catch can / crankcase vent setup is effective and cheap. You can make one it you really wanted to. This is a very common problem with boosted or high CR engines and there are myriad products out there. Just google catch can and it should get you going in the right direction.

Post by Tha Skinny 2/15/2012, 10:51 pm

I'm currently venting my passenger valve cover to atmosphere via hose... Maybe I'm confused what I should actually be venting... Dunno
I'm seeing 9lbs On my gauge. Before I tuned it I was seeing 6lb all day. All I did was turny initial timing down to 9 deg and gap my autolite 24's between 23-25. Car woke up after I did so.. Been debating on turning up the timimg but don't want to do so until i resolve the issue.
Thanks for the help guys... Keep the idea coming!!

Here is an example of the old school way to deal with it. http://www.fordmuscleforums.com/engine-articles/489294-crank-case-evacuation.html

So running the evac lines will basically pull the blow by through the exhaust?? Guess I'm kinda confused... Sorry it's been a long day.

After thinking about this I believe if you still have the vacuum line running from the T-body to the passenger valve cover as well as the line from the back of the intake to the PCV valve you may be forcing air into the crankcase under boost. I'd remove the line from the T-Body and cap off the tube in the filler neck of the valve cover. I think you can replace the PCV valve with one from an older thunderbird turbo coupe. They were made to close under boost. Also use a breather in place of the oil cap if u haven't done so already. Hope that helps.

Might look into these too.

Check valves that will keep boost out from the PCV line but allow vacuum through.

Hmmmm. Well, try plugging the PCV line just for shits and grins. See if it still does it. If so it's probably getting past the rings.
