Re: Ford to support anti hand held bill.
I find that to be a rather self-serving announcement from a company that stands to make a significant profit from banning the use of handheld phones in vehicles. (If handheld use were to be banned, Ford's sales of its MySync units in vehicles would likely increase dramatically.) Numerous studies have shown that it's the engagement in the phone conversation by the driver, regardless of whether the conversation is via a handheld or handsfree device, that takes the driver's attention away from driving the vehicle - it's not just the act of physically holding the phone to one's head. Let's start talking about banning phone conversations themselves from vehicles and see what Ford's position would be then.

Laws only make sense if they are properly enforced. But then again, I guess you can get off with murder if you have the right attorney, so whats the point of the law, is it just there to keep attorneys and police officers busy??

They need to enforce that law about following too closely - I'm really getting tired of all the tailgaters in this town.

X2!!!!
Everyday some jackass feels the need to ride your bumper even if your already exceeding the speed limit by more than 15-20 mph. I just don't get it.
And to the OP I think we have enough regulation already. What's next? No music in the car while driving? No radio at all? I personally want less in terms of stupid laws and more in the way of personal freedom. Now that's not to say that if you do something stupid like kill someone while your dumb ass is texting while driving and your convicted then the punishment should be even more severe. I just don't think adding more laws helps.

I've been twice within the last year due to phones and following too close. You know know my opinion.

Re: Ford to support anti hand held bill.
And while we're at it, what about the idiots running red lights/turn signals?? Anymore a red light means "speed up and get through the intersection while risking the lives of all around you so you're not inconvenienced for three more minutes". Shoot 'em!!

Re: Ford to support anti hand held bill.
In Colodrado if you have someone on your ass and don't get over, they will pull over the lead car and write them a ticket. It doesn't matter if you are doing the speed limit, the law states slower traffic keep right. Oklahoma has that law as well, but they don't enforce it. They would rather pull over the guy tailgating and give him a hard time instead of the one driving slow causing a problem for others behind him.
If you are getting tailgated move over and let the car buy, I'd rather have the idiots in front of me instead of behind me.
