Yea I got a blower but I havent been to the track with my new setup. It was only 2500 used also. Just saying, gt500s been mid 10s to low 11s with cai, pulley, tune, susp and slicks/drag radials. Can't go wrong with either.

Well, I can only speak for myself and my decision to buy a shelby over the 5.0, because frankly I was torn. In the end what made my decision is the fact that to make the 5.0 what I wanted it would have meant the addition of a blower and all the other parts to make it an all around performer. The Shelby already has the blower and many of the things that I would have wanted on the 5.0, with the addition of just a couple thousand dollars of add ons I'll be one happy hombre. The 5.0 is one awesome machine but at the end of the day a Shelby is a Shelby and there is no replacement for displacement. That coupled with the blower and the other upgrades made the decision easy for me.

Oh and for the GT500's running mid 13's I can say that it is just as leonard said. I can drive as well as anyone and I couldn't get it to go 12's on the stock rubber. Spins like crazy. Im sure its possible but not worth the time to do it on the stock tires. on stock rubber a 13.3 I think was all she could muster, a quick change to drag radials even with a not so good burn out to get some heat in em and it went 12.7. My car was bone stock. Was I disapointed? Maybe a little. I think 12.5's are possible with a little practice on drag radials. Hell my 06 3V NA went 12.3 on drag radials so I'm sure that the SHelby could muster some better times. The wheel hop is a bitch to overcome. I'd say mid 12's are there with some good tires and stiffer control arms. As for price, the new 5.0 is the same price or higher than a pre-owned 07-09 shelby. I bought mine for a couple thousand less than a new 5.0 would have cost me. Thats two grand that I can now sink into mods. Bang for my buck was better in the Shelby.

"Most do cause most of them try to hook up 500 to 600rwhp on street tires and are old guys driving them."
Hey wash your mouth out with soap DL! As far as the spare and the Mobility kit, I have insurance that will give me a free tow or roadside assistance. I tried to get my car into the 12's stock and the best I could do was 13.2. From listening to everyone else here I guess that was pretty good! I have not been to TRP or Hallett with my mods, so I should be pleasantly surprised.

It's actually fun to slip and slide down the track at TRP on stock street tires. Not too good for times tho....

Re: Attention all shelby owners : temporary mobility kit lifespan
i have good news and i have bad news. good news is for 2009 and up owners i have a part number, the bad news is for every one else the kit appears to be different.
there is apparently 2 different temporary mobility kits, one made by continental and one made by ford.
2009 and up have the ford model. 2008 and previous have the continental model, though i haven't been able to confirm this completely(i haven't laid eyes on the new one yet).
i have the part number for replacement cartridges for 2009 and up.
2009+ P/N AG12-1568-A cost at dealership approximately $28. 80
i will have to call Shelby tomorrow for the 2008 and older models. i'll know for sure what the deal is then.

I talked to Carroll tonight. He said thanks for buying an over priced GT. He now has enough $$$ for his 12th heart transplant.
