5.0 vs. M3 Empty 5.0 vs. M3

Post by BMMC1 8/25/2010, 12:04 am

Just a few years ago they would have not even compared these. Let's face a few years ago the Mustang would have gotten spanked on the road course by the M3. These two now are so evenly matched it's not funny. Completely a drivers race...

I heard the Mustang used didn't even have to track pak. But I'm guessing it did. It they used one without the track pak it's even more impressive. I do like the M3's ALOT. But in any case, for $25k cheaper... I'll take the 5.0 any day. Very impressive Ford. Very impressive.

It's more than engine swap... the suspension is completely recalibrated and redesigned (new Z member). The improvement is simply incredible considering it's the same platform. I drove a 2011... you can tell a BIG difference. Much more balanced and more refined than ours. In short, if the GT did this well... the Boss would eat the M3 alive.

Also drive the SHO... Wow.

Ford is really putting out some great products.

The real killer is that you can spend a few bucks on upgrades for the Stang and get rid of that body roll, add a few poinies, and you will smoke that M3. Trying to mod the M3 would be really dumb.

Actually the REAL killer is that they should have been comparing the Mustang GT against a regular 3 Series car (325, 328) not the M3. That comparison should wait till spring with the Boss 302 Laguna Seca.

And for those of you complaining about the horsepower numbers, just wait. Ford has something behind curtain number 3................ Check out Jay Leno's interview at the unveiling: http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/video/2012-ford-mustang-boss-302-laguna-seca-edition/1245851/

im not sayin you could just bolt it up to a fox and take a ride. lol! but thats def what i would do if i had one. i would probably buy a coupe roller, and build it with my papi. at least i wouldnt be lying if i told someone that it was a stock 5.0!

Thanks for the share Jeff. Great vid.

I just love the new Boss... All the bits and pieces are great. Love the real thought and engineering they put into it. Simply brilliant. I would have to get the laguna edition.

The only thing I can't stand is the clown color styling... Painted wheels etc. I wonder if they will offer it without it? Hopefully.

You have to be kidding? Right????? a 328i vs a new 5.0..... why would you compare a 3.0 liter I6 against a 5.0 liter V8?

The point was that the M3 is their top performer, the Mustang GT is not. But fair enough, compare the new V6 with the Track Pak option against the 328i............. I still think Ford wins.

So what do you use to compare against the Boss 302LS? The M3 will lose, hands down. Does the M Coupe out-handle the M3? I don't know their line up very well (although my brother-in-law owns an M Coupe, and drives like a typical BMW owner) lol!
