Hello Empty Hello

Post by OSUALUM78 6/29/2010, 12:01 am

Well, I just thought I'd chime in and not be the guy behind the guy behind the guy (anyone get that movie reference?)

It was good to see y'all at the Shelby meet, and it feels good to finally be an official member to this club. That's right I just typed "member"

Hopefully I won't be such a stranger to this site and to GTG's

In order sometime soon for me will be (hopefully if money provides):

- H&R SS Springs
- MM C/C 4 bolt plates (chrome plated)(set up at: max caster, 1/16" toe in split, and 0.8 to 1.0 degrees negative camber?)
- Bilstein HD shock/struts
- Polyurethane isolators (possibly will not be installed, dependent upon ride height)
- Maximum Motorsports HD Rear Lower Control Arms with perch/swaybar mount (adjustable? not sure yet?)
- Maximum Motorsports UCA?
- Maximum Motorsports rear swaybar?
- Maximum Motorsports panhard bar?
- Solid Steering Rack Bushings? (aluminum?)
- Bumpsteer kit?
- X2 balljoint kit?
- Steering Shaft?
- Front control arm bushings?
- Swaybar bushings?
- Sway bar end links?

Please help me with my question mark items. Not sure if needed or not.

- And a new wheel tire combo. On the wheel/tire combo, I want to go up in size (to accommodate 27/35/18 tires) but down in weight to reduce unsprung mass, with black center and polished lip. I love the FR500's look, but they weigh in at like 28lbs each plus tires = more weight than my factory setup. Any help would be appreciated. Not trying to go top dollar like HRE's (although would kick ass) but weight and my color scheme is a major factor.

Right now, Bettie is a DD and again hopefully if money provides soon to be a garage/weekend warrior queen, which means retired DD status, weekend warrior/Hallett is in order for next year's meet/runs at TRP when I can make it.

Thanks

Ditto Zac! Great to finally meet you! Please see comments on your question below... I won't talk about brands... but MM is some good stuff!

- H&R SS Springs
- MM C/C 4 bolt plates (chrome plated)(set up at: max caster, 1/16" toe in split, and 0.8 to 1.0 degrees negative camber?) Always a good call especially if you are going to lower your car and better yet if you wanna run at places like Hallett.
- Bilstein HD shock/struts
- Polyurethane isolators (possibly will not be installed, dependent upon ride height)
- Maximum Motorsports HD Rear Lower Control Arms with perch/swaybar mount (adjustable? not sure yet?) Adjustable is always good....
- Maximum Motorsports UCA? Good call...
- Maximum Motorsports rear swaybar? Good call...
- Maximum Motorsports panhard bar? Good call... or a watts link is a good call too... it's just more $$$
- Solid Steering Rack Bushings? (aluminum?) If you're gonna drive it on the street I'd steer clear (pun inteaded). NVH! These will make life very loud and rough. For the track they are great. Firms everything up and gives great positive feel.
- Bumpsteer kit? Sure.... Good if you're lowering...
- X2 balljoint kit? Not familar...
- Steering Shaft? Not really needed...
- Front control arm bushings? Sure....
- Swaybar bushings? Sure.... But I think like Cobra's... Mach's already come with poly bushings... so not needed unless worn.
- Sway bar end links? Sure.... lower on the list.

You've got an excellent start with these part to have a great Hallett car. I would also look at possibly doing coil overs rather than just springs if Hallett is calling your name.

Thanks

Hallett is calling my name, but not die hard runs there. just for fun like going to TRP. Thanks for the input.

BTW, my shocks/struts and all bushings are jacked. Tulsa roads suck.

Are all my parts listed compatible?

X2 is a Steeda product:

Do all the front end suspension at one time (after you put in your springs) so you dont have to get multiple alignments. Good list.

H&R SS Springs Great springs
MM C/C 4 bolt plates (I would do 4-5 dgrees caster, -.5 degrees camber, and .15 degrees toe-in based off the alignment tab of the link i posted further down)
Bilstein HD shock/struts I like koni as well
Polyurethane isolators I did no isolators when i had springs (wanted it slammed)
Maximum Motorsports HD Rear Lower Control Arms with perch/swaybar mount I have no experience with the adjustable perches so no advice
Maximum Motorsports UCA Ive been told uppers are a waste of time unless you get adjustable
Maximum Motorsports rear swaybar? good choice
Maximum Motorsports panhard bar? Would be nice
Solid Steering Rack Bushings? (aluminum?) Never messed with mine
Bumpsteer kit Get it
X2 balljoint kit Get it
Steering Shaft No need
Front control arm bushings? If they are shot
Swaybar bushings? Might as well
Sway bar end links? Get shorter polyurethane ones depending on how low you go

this site has some good stuff too
