Car noise Empty Car noise

Post by Pinkmustangjess 3/12/2010, 11:15 am

I feel like my car sounds like a 4x4 truck when I am taking off and switching gears. It doesnt sound like a muscle car to me. Anyone been in a manual 6 and thought the same thing? maybe a exhaust system would help?

I think I know what you are talking about and its just the natural sound of a V-6 which doesnt sound all that aggressive. The proper exhaust system would help. I am a big fan of the Magnaflows on the mustangs, but not sure what they make for the v-6 setup. Don't know if you know this but youtube is a good place to see and hear what others have done to their cars. It gives a pretty good idea of what it will sound like on your car before you go out and buy it.

I have Magnaflows and they are great, they offer a nice rumble without the constant loudness of others. Has a nice back-pop when rapped out. But like Jerry, I dont know how it will sound on a V6

I must give you a heads up, your not going to easily get that deep throated sound like a V8 has.

from how i see it, you have 3 setups for your v6, right now your on a Y pipe with cats

If you go with an H pipe its going to give you more of a deeper tone the bad side of it is that you will get a more "drone" frome it
With out cats on an H pipe will make the sound alot much louder

An X pipe will give you a higher tone, bad side of it is that its a bit on the raspy side, and like also w/o cats will intensify the loudness

I dont really know what a Catless Y pipe would sound like,

And the mufflers will make a difference too. Depends on what you get.

Its something you'll have to experiment with, listening to youtube sounds, If your driving out on the town and you hear a V6 that sounds really good, dont hesitate to track them down and find out what exhaust system they had.

What i have right now is a Catless H pipe with Ford Racing Stingers with a stock exhaust manifold

Jessica... you could switch over to a dual setup. American Autosports can hook you up. I'd even throw is the mufflers (stock GT) in for free.

well if I put an exhaust system on it I would put a dual setup....I saw someone on here talking about some people just cut the back bumper instead of buying a GT bumper. Maybe was Yancey? I cant remember. I would have to look into it..

PM sent... got a couple options.

I personally wouldn't go the cut out route. Looks cheap. There are fascia covers out there that look really nice and professional.

Yeah definitly go for duals, Not only does duals look better, but they look better and sound better.

a single exhaust setup doesnt belong on a muscle car.
