Rattle!!! Empty Rattle!!!

Post by andizzle34 2/19/2010, 4:43 pm

So everytime I go over a bridge or hit a bump I get this loud annoying rattle. It doesnt come from the door or dash but more like the transmission. I can feel it in the shifter and also on the floor when it gets really loud. The only thing I can think of is maybe the midpipe but I checked it out and everything is like it should be. Anyone else had this problem? It's one of the Hurst short throws

Hmm could be a few things. I remember somone having an issue with their shifter, don't remember who is was, maybe Tony, I believe it was a simple fix.

Let me do some searching

this was tony's issue, more of a rocking than a rattle
carcrazy53 wrote:Found a bolt under the car(6mm)next to the shifter linkage.snuged it down and rocking has went away. The End

Since you have an aftermarket shifter, might check nuts and bolts first and make sure everything is snug.

Could also be a loose motor/transmission mount.

Sorry missed that. Reason I askedis because my Tri-Ax has positive stops that can make a slight rattling sound if loose. The hurst doesn't have these so I guess that's not the issue.

He can feel it in the shifter and the floor. Do the newer mustangs have heat sheilds? Could be a loose heat sheild.

well it turned out to be the passenger side exhaust. The pipe had come out of the hanger and everytime i would hit a bump it would rub against the center stack.
