Storm Chasing
Ok... Looks like Tues and Weds are going to be the "good days"... Been reading the chat on the forums from the people from SPC and signs are looking good for super celluar development (Tornados). Anyone interested in going out during the afternoon if conditions are right?
Since hail is often common... we'll take the Sable, so I'll drive and we'll split the gas. You just gotta be ready to go when called. If you've never done this, it's a blast. Bring your cameras. With modern technology it's even better.
LEt me know ...

Not this year or last. Don't get a lot of time to do it. Jarrod and I went out last year. Didn't see any but had fun none the less. Found out the top speed of the sable... Forward and reverse.

Looks like tomorrow is going to be ripe for storm chasing! Plan on going out in the afternoon. I'll probably be leaving work early. If anyone is interested let me know. I fluffer is in...
In any case... cover those cars if you can! Should have some good hailers tomorrow.

Re: Storm Chasing
Looks like the timing will be around 6-7ish for the Tulsa Metro area. Looking like a solid tornado threat but the ingredients are also there for pretty large hail. (just what car enthusiasts need).
Right now, we're going to be setting up along the I35/177 corridor between Stillwater and Wellston, maybe as far south as OKC We'll wait for them to pop and then follow them in. Looking for some good video!

Re: Storm Chasing
Thanks. Will do. Tyler and Fluffer are going with. I'm a little more cautious when the boy is around.
Fluffer on the other..... he's my human storm probe. I give him a anemometer and tell him to take off running across the field towards the tornado.

How bout sending some rain to Norman. We are turning into a dust bowl down here. Seriously, we have to watch for wildfires almost every day.

Ya... everyone needs the rain. The worst news is that, you guys will probably be just to the west of the action tonight.

I think in the case of tornadoes and hail, being west of the action is an ok thing.

Re: Storm Chasing
Good chase. We were on the one that started around Stroud and following it up R66 into Tulsa. Weird structures today... High Precip storms and fast moving. Hard to chase. We popped out of rain and hail core (where you couldn't see 4 ft in front of you) near Stroud and about 1/4 in front of us was the wall cloud. The structure was ok but not great. The rain was being sucked into it via the inflow and weakening.
Got some good pics and video. I'll post later.

Sounds fun. I would have gone with but my car was still strapped to a dyno and I wanted to be there for that. Can't wait to see the pics

His only smart decision that day was driving a Ford - if he'd been in a Chevy they'd still be picking up pieces of him two counties over.

No kidding. It would take an F5 to move that F350. :)
Looks like I'm chasing today. Not an outbreak day but might get lucky. It look like more of a large hail event. Cover those cars!
