I'm going to get a Stage II tune.
A Stage II tune is CAI, pulley, and tune.
Here's the deal. I have been hearing lots about all different kinds of tunes. Brenspeed, Steeda, and EVO offer an all in one kit at a cost that is all relatively comparable. My question is this:
Is there any advantage that you know of using one tune or product over another? I know this has been tossed around over and over before, but I am having trouble finding a single source here for the info.
Thanks

Re: I'm going to get a Stage II tune.
My advice is to go with Proven results. Contact each vendor and see how many of these cars they have tuned and their results. If there is one that far and above has more proven results than thats a plus.
Also Im sure there are plenty of GT500 owners that can give you first hand opinions on their results. Testemonies always hold more water with me.
Good luck

Oh, after riding with mine you have to get stage 2 now?
I would only trust my car with 2 tuners, john lund and justin starkey. Lund does evo tunes and justin does tunes for lethal performance and has his own vmp packages. Here is the exact same one I have on my car:
http://www.lethalperformance.com/07-09-shelby-gt500-power-packages-c-2052_2728/lethal-performance-07-08-gt500-pulley-packjlt-intake-p-15876
Or you could go a little stealthy and get the vmp package from justin that has stock looking pulley and larger idler.
http://www.vmptuning.com/store/index.php?p=product&id=258&parent=88
I already told you my feelings on evo, sure their stuff is good but you pay extra for the name. Dealing with Jared from lethal and justin from vmp are great, if you ever mod you car with more stuff justin will send you new tunes for free.

Well it was always on the agenda after I established some stock numbers. I have the stock dyno numbers, I have a stock 1/4 mile number (which I plan to reduce into the 12's), and I'm going to get some stock Hallett numbers this weekend. Doncha think it's about time to step up to the plate? Gotta figure out what to do with my suspension as well.....

Re: I'm going to get a Stage II tune.
Blair,
Here's my $.02 fwiw:
I would stay away from anything Steeda, especially the tune.
Evolution was the first out with their tunes for the GT500 and have shown some strong numbers, however I think they are a little too aggressive and push the limits a bit much for my comfort. Also they have an attitude toward other vendors and anyone that questions them which I do not care for very much. So I will personally not do business there.
I bought my C&L intake, 2.65" pulley and tune from Justin @ VMP and am very happy with the results and the customer service.
As for the other tunes out there, I have no knowledge.
The other thing you need to do though, is let Ed @ PSE port that blower for you............

Damn Jeff and I see eye to eye on evo, their attitude sucks major balls. Still not upper and lower control arm also Blair, might as well do the susp first cause you will be in the same position as me, can't get it to the ground.

David, take a look at Jeff's suspension. He has some pictures of it around here somewhere. I need to find out more about track type suspensions before I spend money on them.

Yea, he has a griggs setup I think, best money can buy for road racing. Don't think its a drag setup though.

Re: I'm going to get a Stage II tune.
David,
Griggs has several different packages for the S197 and some of them are very reasonable. I want to discuss all of the options Blair has in person; from the FRPP Handling kit all the way to my setup. I doubt very many would go as radical as I did as the street manners are a bit harsh. But some of Griggs' other packages are very streetable and miuch better than anything else comparable out there.
There is something out there that will fit his needs and pocketbook.........

I'm sure Jeff knows all about this... Parts are one thing. Setting it up properly is the other 1/2. You gotta know what you're doing. It's an art in itself.

haha, spend money Blair. Like Jeff said, griggs or that ford handling kit is real nice. Heard many good things about the ford handling, adjustable struts/shocks and sway bar etc. You will still need upper/lower controls if you get the ford kit.

I'm sure I won't go as far as Jeff has, but I want more of a track setup on my car. I hope I can catch up with him this weekend with so much going on, basketball, racing school, Tulsa car show, hot tub delivery, golf etc.

In all honesty, you would probably be 100% happy with the ford kit, it's a very nice kit that won't kill you on the street since yours is mostly a daily driver.
