Ok time for some of you to get off the fence. I have booth at the International Auto Show so I will only get to go on Sunday but who else is going? I guess for you 8 cylinder guy's to make it fair I could unplug two plug wires. I do get to test out there tomorrow for about an hour or so it's good to have friends.

It would be good for you to do Saturday too. As the saying goes, "Repitition is the mother of education" or in racer lingo, "seat time, seat time".
I prepped the car yesterday, so it's ready. I just need a couple of clients to pay up before Thursday. If they do, I go. If they don't, I can't

I'm definitely keeping Saturday open. Long range forecast says rain Sat and you never know what comes up, but I would like to try to do Hallett Saturday as well.

Re: Hallett this weekend
Sunday looks good so I am going to stay with that. I may have my new tires and wheels by then (fingers crossed) I am going to get a new-take off set from a GT500 that is being upgraded to KR specs. What do you guy's think of the Eagle F1 tires are they good? I was hoping for some Nitto NT01's but I need 18's for the brake kit I am getting for my birthday. I will be working out the details tomorrow but I am probably going to be a track sponsor at Hallett by providing the lawn care equipment they need. So like I said I will be working out some "details" and I won't forget you guy's in my negoiations since I will be provideing 10-12k in equipment to them to use. Before I order the wheels though does anyone know of a local set of take-offs in 18" shipping is what is going to hurt more than anything since you don't have something for that money or so I think.

Keep me posted on if you are going or not Jeff. I'll need to pick your brain on suspension mods for the track, so I'll try to make it even if I don't do HST.

Re: Hallett this weekend
The stock F1's are pretty much junk for road racing. Don't spend a dime on them.
I am currently running Nitto 555r II Extremes (285/35/r18) and they are pretty decent. The NT01's (275/35/r18) would be better but would not last as long. I have heard good feedback from GT500's running the Toyo R888, but have no personal experience with them.
Usually I buy sets of scuffed Koni Challenge Hoosier slicks (275/35/r18) from the mustang racing teams. You can get a set of 4 for around $250 + shipping. But they are not street legal, so I keep my stock tires and rims for the street and swap out the Friday before an event and trailer the car.
Blair, I'll let you know by Thursday morning. That's the deadline for the early registration discount.

Re: Hallett this weekend
The early registration fee is $95 per day ($10 more at the event). You also have to pay the annual membership dues which have gone up to $50 this year.
The gates open at 7:00 am and you must attend the drivers' meeting which is usually around 9:00 am and get you car through tech inspection (need to have an SA2000 or newer helmet).
If you want to know your lap times you can rent a transponder for $25 per day.
If I go I'll be there on Saturday (sing with the worship team on Sundays)

Re: Hallett this weekend
Blair,
It's a "Go" for Saturday, I'll be rolling in the gates at 7:00 am. I usually park in the first row just east of the raceports before the turn 9 grandstands; big white truck, grabber orange Shelby.........hard to miss
And don't chicken out if it rains a bit! That's the best time to learn how to be smooth.

I'm liable to get some rain experience or at least wet track experience Friday. I'm going to do my very best to get out there even if I can't make it to race. I will have to work it in with the car show this weekend (promised the wife to look for her a new car) and the basketball games. I really need to figure out the best suspension for my needs.

Re: Hallett this weekend
My wife just forwarded an email from Hallett that I didn't check last night. It says that Sunday's HST is FULL and Saturday only had 2 spots left. I took one and unless there are cancellations then there is only 1 spot left (assuming 2 people didn't sign up earlier today and lock me out

Well I can still make it to the track and watch you and pick your brain on suspensions Saturday. Not surprising slots are gone considering it is the start of the season.

Re: Hallett this weekend
Ok got home from the track again. Wow twice in the same week. So I kinda noticed nobody else showed up are you guy's just talk?? Just kidding. Well I shaved another 2 seconds off my fastest lap so far this year. I am getting alot smoother and not fighting the car as much. So are you guy's comming out so you can look good at the Shelby Show.
