BMMC: Purpose of the Club
Hi. I have met some of you guys and will meet others of you soon at TRP. Thanks for the welcome in the Introductions section and for the invitation to come into the forums.
I wanted to give my thoughts on an issue that I think should be anticipated as your club grows in its membership and activities. That is; whether membership and/or some/all of its activities be limited to the 2005> Mustang owners.
Here's my opinion (you know what those are worth). I believe in original intent of organizations. I think it is a reasonable idea to have a club built around a distinct era of Mustang production models, such as the S197 (or SN95, New Edge, Fox body, etc.). You have the beginnings of a good organization. I just wanted to say that if I were you guys, I would limit membership to persons having the '05> Mustang.
I think it is great that you have invited me and, maybe, others to join in the discussions, etc. because we have some interests that cross lines while still in the Mustang community (e.g., think "mod motor"). While it might be good to offer some means of participating in community dialogue (like these forums), I think you need to have the right and to feel good about taking cruises, photos, etc. with cars that look alike and share some identity without being concerned that you are "excluding" someone.
If you decide to open up some events occasionally which include others in the Mustang community, that's fine, although I don't think you should feel obligated to do that. I'm easy! I like whoever likes me....and some who don't!
I just wanted to say this before I meet some of you and before the issue needed to come up. (Maybe it has already). If you should decide to continue to allow other Mustang-types to be involved in these forums, that's great. If you decide not to, that's OK with me also. I just enjoy the hobby/sport and try to learn from others. I also want to beat every Z06 and Viper I run into!! It doesn't hurt to put it on a snot-nosed Cobra every now and then also!
Well, I need to get back to getting my 2V back together and let Kurtis tune it. I need to back myself up on the track......not in forums! See you guys and best wishes to BMMC!

Excellent feedback Mike! The topic has been a very hot topic. Even heated at times. It's nice to a non 2005+ owner chime in a the "keep it only 2005+" side of the topic.
All mustang fans are welcome here. We often do cruises and others will tag along. Heck... last summer we even has a couple Solstices join us.

Re: BMMC: Purpose of the Club
The forum is open to anyone with a mustang to chime in and chat. Great feedback. I think the concensus is not to be known as the club that has a bunch of eliteist homos that think they are better than the rest of the mustang community just because we have a s197 platform mustang. So in short I dont think we will completely shun anyone with the desire that the rest of us have for mustangs. What does that mean? We really haven't decided where the line is just yet.

Re: BMMC: Purpose of the Club
I agree with Mike. I think if you want to have a club for a particular Mustang type, bet it S197, Fox, Edge, whatever... It's up to you guys. You shouldn't care what other people say about it. If they're gonna think your a bunch of elitist jerks then they can join a club for crybabies.... Too much Political Correctness going on around here. It should be that you build the club on a niche market - ie, devoted to s197 owners. No different than clubs devoted to Roush or Saleens or whatever.
You guys seem like a cool group and can handle whatever flak you might get for sticking to your original intent and principles for the club.
If I get more time away from work I'm excited to come hang with ya.

Re: BMMC: Purpose of the Club
hey i really like this group alot. so far i seen yall had stuff to do on the week ends and even the donations and other helpful things for the comunity. I like that alot. Yall are helping out and enjoying the day with the stangs. I'm all about that. i just don't like to hang out at car washes or Sonics like the young kids do. I feel like somthing is going to happen bad there. i'll be looking foward to future events, drives and especially the eatting food part. nice to meet every one again.
