Those using slp or pypes muffer delete systems come in here
I am debating purchasing a muffler delete system for the cobra, was wondering how everyone likes them. How is the drone at lower rpm (1500-1800)? I am going to probably go with the slp's over the pypes due to hearing complaints of the pypes fitment on gt500s. The only reason I ask is cause I was bored at work and took my mufflers off today and took it for a test drive, it sounded real good, not to loud just driving and just right at wot. Let me know some of your guys opinions on these if you have any.

Re: Those using slp or pypes muffer delete systems come in here
David,
I don't have SLP's but I did do the muffler delete mod 2 years ago. I had a set of pipes custom bent and some chrome tips welded on. They don't look as slick as the SLP's but it was less than 1/2 the price.
As far as drone, it depends on the gears you have but some where up in the 70 mph with stock gears when you give it mild maintenance throttle there is a small amount of resonance.
You also may have noticed that when you lay off the throttle under decelerating loads it will crackle a bit. I like it, some people don't
Personally I love the sound of these cars with just the cat's. The only reason I would put mufflers back on would be if I bought long tubes.
Also, the regular 3v's sound nothing like our 5.4L 4v's when using SLP's. They don't sound nearly as good.

Thanks for the reply Jeff, yea I know I could get it done cheaper at a exhaust shop, but like you said, it wouldn't look near as nice. Those slp ones chuck got a svt performance look damn nice. I did notice the crackle/pop on decel, kind of different but damn near every muffler I heard does the samething on these newer mustangs. I was debating on the kr mufflers, but might just get the slp's and see if I like them, if not I will just sell them. Not worried about drone that much, as long as it's not very bad, most of the time I don't cruise at 70mph anyways, thanks again.

Get the SLP...if you dont like the crackle pop...weld in some small resonators. Wont effect performance but eliminates all drone and popping. Its an amazing fix and works. Just sayin

David...what about making your own muffler delete and installing these. Love the shelby tips

yea, I just don't know about having someone make them, worried they will look like shit. Would rather just pay for some that are already made and fit correct.

I have a set of SLP for the gt set up. i don't know if they will fit on a cobra. you can borrow them to see how you like them. there only 3 months old. If you like them I'll sell them to you. here how they sound with a factory exhaust set up with the SLP axle back.

That is what I am talking about. How much you want for them? They gt version works for cobra, shoot me a price. I will take them off your hands if they are around 50 bucks.

Leons in Sapulpa does great work. And if you ever have a problem with it they are more than happy to fix it. They have been around for years and do good work. I have never had a problem.

Re: Those using slp or pypes muffer delete systems come in here
I installed the slp loudmouths that I bought from Hector. Man it sounds really good, not to loud, but not to quiet. With no catback it was much louder and popped alot more on decel, with the slp loudmouth it cured alot of that. Hardly any drone around 65-70mph, I love the chrome tips also, they fit perfect in the bumper cutout for them. The stock mufflers just looked plain shitty, I won't be changing these anytime soon. Another guy at work who has gt500 also is going to buy a set also.

Yea, it really sounds good and saved some money instead of buying the kr's. Now I can get that lower crank pulley and CR heat exchanger or save up for that 2.9 whipple.......

If you still want more power save for the Whipple. The 10% lower pulley with the 2.6" upper spins the Eaton WAY beyond its efficiency range. Not even a new h/e will help with that amount of heat soak.

Yea, I know it gonna heat soak bad, but I just can't pull 3500 over the wifes head right now. Maybe I can nickle and dime her for the time being. You ever look into that C&R heat exchanger for yours since you road race?

Re: Those using slp or pypes muffer delete systems come in here
i have the slp's and i did have the drone when cruising on the highway. installed the cut in frpp xpipe and the drone is a distant memory now. sounds better, louder out back, just a slight rasp at wot, and it's actually quieter inside the car. don't know how it would do with the cobra though

i had that combo for a while. cats, the x pipe that you cut in and the loud mouths. it was really nice when you go into tunnels. but i thought it was still not loud enough then. i went with off road x pipes and...... holy cow they were to freaking loud. i then installed the stock mufflers that i gutted out and it sounded different with the rasp sound. like a V6 on steroids. LOL!!!! Well its loud enough for Alabama Police to give me a ticket on.
I'm glad you enjoy the loud mouth David. have fun and snap a few necks.

I already had the AFCO h/e and a Fluidyne radiator installed when Van told about the C&R stuff. Also, a port job from PSE Superchargers that lowered my IAT2's by 26 degrees while adding about 34 rwhp. You can swing $500 can't you? That should be your next mod

What 500 for the port or the afco? I haven't heard many people doing pse port, I will have to look into it. 500-700 here and there is no problem at all, but 3500, yea thats not gonna fly very well. She keeps saying something about never being happy with my car, well of course not, it a mustang, it needs mods.

Ask her why she keeps buying shoes and purses? Why is it she is never happy with the one she already has. At least you keep the same car, you just upgrade.

Trust me, I tell her that, but she just comes back with she doesn't have 46000 dollars in shoes and purses. I can't say anything after that because it is just a toy. Here lately I have just been buying parts without even telling her, she says "you don't even ask me now". Of course I don't, she is gonna say no anyways. Just buy them and worry about it later right?

i used to work for my church. my pastor would tell us (maybe a bad idea). "it's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission"
i've taken and used this idea through my entire active army years and it has worked amazingly well. ;)
another statement that works when you want to get out of something quickly. "you know, you are absolutely right. i was wrong to do that. i won't do it again." this will completely dumbfound some people and they will just let you walk away sometimes.
