Boom Boom in the truck.
Well I got some new stereo gear for the ranger and had to build a box for it. Took me a few hours but I got a box made that's only 49.5"x21"x6". I still have plenty of room in back of my seat for junk. Here is are some pics of the box. The speakers that I'm using are 2 Kicker COMPVT8 200Watts RMS, 2 Ohms. I went off Kicker measurement for the ported box design. The box is a bit bigger but the internal port I built into it brought the internal dimensions down to what it's suppose to be. Hopefully these 8"' will sound like 12". Just need to run the wires, amps, wrap the box and bolt it down to the cab of the truck.

Re: Boom Boom in the truck.
I only painted the ports because you will be able to see it. That box id freaking heavy. At least 50 lbs. I used over 150 screws and a big bottle of woods glue. I forgot something in the design of the box so I might have to cut out the center section a bit , just to reassess the amp it the box. Easy fix. It will look good when I'm all done.

Re: Boom Boom in the truck.
Looks good. I had to do some surgery to my system today. It stopped working and I pulled down the back seat and one of the wiring connectors broke in half. Must have hung up against the seat.
Re: Boom Boom in the truck.
Didn't they have any thicker cable Hector??

Re: Boom Boom in the truck.
That's what Kicker recommended to me and if I use it I'll get an extra 1 year warranty on my system. So I'll have 3 years total on both my amps. It looks like an over kill but It will be done right. Man tha cable is as thick as the cables we use on out trucks. 15 lbs the package weight. Hey... If we do a Kicker show again I'll be ready.

Re: Boom Boom in the truck.
you a truck with a system. You'll fit in nicely with the Kicker crowd. Just sport a mohawk and gauge your ears. Start now, show is in April... LOL

Re: Boom Boom in the truck.
I've already bought a book on how to do the conversion and bookmarked a few web sights. Ebay has a starter kit for $600. I just need the engine wiring from an Explorer.
Picture update...
I like the wires the way they are. kinda gives it that mechanical/ industrial look. I'll clean it up some more. Time to put it in the truck. Dang this thing weighs about 75lbs now.

Re: Boom Boom in the truck.
the more i look at the picture the more I don't like the wires on the outside. Got the box in but i need to take it to work so I can fabricate some brackets to bolt it down. I also need 2 more rca cables for the amp. I for got to get them. DUUUUUUUUU.
Ok... I'm really not liking the wires out out up front. I think I'm going to make some openings in the box and run the cables and wires threw it. Clean it up some. I'm done for today. Might mess with it after work as the days go on. Dang that box is heavy.

Come on Hector, everyone knows that Sony Xplodes are the best. At least have some taste when choosing an audio setup.

Re: Boom Boom in the truck.
Well the box is bolted down. That thing is not going anywhere. I think I might make a cover to go over the box to hide the wires. It will make the amps look recess in the box and the speakers too.

Re: Boom Boom in the truck.
12" and 8" are 2 different sizes. The bass will be way different. I had one 10" Alpine in my old mustang then I went with 2 and it sounded way better. The only reason why my 8" will sound good in because it's inside of a small pick up truck. It will hit really nice inside but you will not hear me coming down the street.
