Shelby Stalls

Post by megameGT500 on 8/30/2011, 10:42 pm

I am not sure if I need to have it looked at or not. Since the ambient temp has been 100+ for the last month or two I have noticed that if I run my Shelby moderately hard to running the SC a few good times that when I come to a stop light she will just die. This has happend only a 3-5 times and had not happend for a few weeks (driving very light) but today I got on it and it stalled at a light. Should I just stay off it while it is this hot (common sense tells me yes) and is it doing this because of the heat?

Never had this problem. Been driving mine just about everyday in this heat. Now I play with it a few times and then let her rest.... which takes about a week with the "Heaton" and the excessive heat this summer, but never had this problem.

Any other symptoms?

Not sure if your car has the stock tune or not, but here is some good info. I run mine hard and have not stalled yet. I have had the car searching for idle, but after driving it as my daily it has adjusted itself

I have searched and found nothing on this. I am wondering if I should reset / reflash my ECU? I don't think it could hurt.

Actually, this was the article I was looking for. I do have a stock tune. I could not remember were I saw it but I greatly appreciate you posting it. Thanks. I will try this tomorrow. I think I am going to KCMO this weekend to see family and want to try to put this to rest. yahoo

Never had this issue with mine either. Anxious to see what you find. Also just for sh*ts and grins I'd check your vacuum lines and that your intake tube is tight at the TB and filter connections. Just a thought.

i've heard the same thing. only it was basically a 15 min w/o air idling, 15 min w/ air idling, 15 more w/o air idling.

my wife also was having idling issues w/ my 07 after the sc'er was tuned. this was before i knew to have her try this. after driving it for a few days to and from work the car was fine.

SOunds like your CAI or intake tube or filter could be loose. If you are getting unrestriced air in there it will through the MAF off and cause it to stall. Might check and make sure evrythingis installed correctly and tightend up.

Thanks everyone. This morning before work I unplugged the battery and went through the steps. I had already checked the filter/CAI over the weekend. Not sure I know where the intake tube is but once I find it I will check. Anyway, I ran it hard after work today, engaging the SC multiple times. I hit every stop light I could and she did fine. It is still too early to tell but I am pretty confident that was it. Again, Thanks and I know I am going run her pretty hard in KC. My dad is salivating to drive her.

Get some grins in now, because after the pulley and tune you and your father wont get out of the car. It will become your home and your right foot stuck to the go pedal. The feeling is unreal after the boost goes up.

Hey All,
Made it to KCMO had absolutely no problems during the 450+ mile trip. It was 100+ degrees outside during the trip and had no stall issues or otherwise. Also, I got 20.1 MPG. I got the pic if you all want to see but I was amazed at how well she drove. 6th gear boost works very well, at one point got up to 120 mph and felt like I was doing 80. When I did the speed limit, 75, it felt like I going nowhere. I had a blast driving her. Now I have clean her and get all the bug crap off tomorrow. BTW when I passed all the exits for Tulsa I was thinking of you all. I can't thank you guys enough for that article I really appreciate it. beerdrink

Glad to hear the car is running great Mike! I have found if you stay out of boost even in stop and go traffic these cars can avg 17.5 to 19.5 mph city. All highway 23 to 24 mpg. Not bad for a 550-650hp mustang!

Glad we could help out sir.
