Sounds like you may have ended up with a good deal. Is it going comprehensive or collision though?

Sorry it took me a min to get back on here. My internet access is pretty much on my cell. I got a new one and need an 8 year old to show me how to use it

Anyhow sounds like you have this pretty well whipped. Hope it works out sounds like you are coming out ahead of the game. Here is a pic of mine. I think it was one of those rubber lay in Bernard for a pickup. I've got some 3m paste that took it all out. And I cant find my pi s of the h2 trim but fluffed has seen it. Im going to do the splitter rockers and lower bumper panel on mine and will post pics for later reference! Your more than welcome to bring her by but with the insurance claim it might be better the way it is

Here's my carnage

As u can see my stoles suck anyway. Dumb ass dealer pulled to close to a curb. Did some damage and helen melodrama could have done a better job on the restripe lol!

Comprehensive...I am under the impression that it will not raise my rates.

No, comprehensive will not.

When I hydroplaned and hit a guardrail in November I claimed collision. Didn't know until afterward that if I had claimed that I dodge a deer and hit the guardrail, I could have claimed comprehensive and had no change in rate.

Ah well, claiming collision is like financing the new paintjob, GT hood, and cobra bumper.

yeah the stripes on this car suck as a whole. the ones they put on are wrinkly, but the ones ford put on are very cheaply done. i havnt looked at another one up close the way i have mine. hell i didnt even realize it until i moved my shelby emblems around. you wont notice it walking by but up close and personal they are gay.

they will all be redone soon enough just not sure if they will be new stickers or painted and cleared on

Ok, got the appraisal.

After my 500 deductible is removed, I will be left with 856.00. Now, I have to decide what to do with the money.

VOTE ! Should I:

A) Get it repaired back to new - (most of the labor and stuff is refinishing the entire front bumper and adding the stripes back on).

B) Pay $200.00 out of pocket and get carbon fiber chin splitter and rocker panels, but be left with tiny paint nicks on bottom corner of bumper. See pics.

The nicks are so small, and low, you don't see them unless you look. Black plastic underneath the gray paint. Since it's not metal, it won't rust, but I could at least put a tiny bit of coating on it (maybe tiny bit of touch up paint).

I'm leaning towards option B. And another thing, chances are I would get the nicks repaired, only to get hit by a rock a few months later anyway.

Here is how the claim breaks down:
400.38 worth of Stripe
234.23 front air splitter
91.53 side rocker panel (1)

470.80 total labor
91.80 paint materials
67.48 tax
--------------------
1356.22 - 500 ded = 856.22

Its up to you Norman! Whatever you can live with. I think the carbon fiber front splitter and side moldings would look great! but also would like it if the damage was repaired.

Not sure why they are charging $400 for stripes, what a rip off and labor at another $470 seems HIGH for a front splitter/ bumper stripes and side moldings.

But thats just me

What did you do to your avatar lol. Hey I got one, how about the blue guy from the movie Avatar.

A lot of the labor is pulling off bumper, stripping it and refinishing it I think. But anyhow...it inflated my insurance check so I'm not complaining!

I figure I'll be able to straighten out the bumper. I have to pull it off anyway to put on the H.E...still waiting for my Roush tank and "RaceFART" has not contacted me back yet.

i would go for option B and then get your dealer to have their touch up paint guys just fix it. will look much better than using a little bottle of the touch-up paint.

I vote option B. If you have a spare car, take the bumper somewhere else to see if they can just do touch-ups and blend it in. I've seen times where touch-up paint and a light buffing can make it look like new...

Have you looked into stripe kits. The ones I found are high dollar. Will only cost me a couple hunch extra for them to be painted. Prob is my buddy just quit working for Steve cook creations so there is never anything simple. He's wanting to change the color pin stripe all sorts of shit

Anyway sealing of Aaron., if you need to have a ref for a good paint/body guy let me know I he went to bodyworks in pricktown since in this economy there isn't a demand for a lot or classic restoration. Anyhow ill get u his contact info if your interested

Depending o. How big of a hurry ur in he's working on getting his own shop to do side work, he's gonna be doing my k5 this spring hopefully

I havent looked into GT500 striping kits too much, but the Lemans stripes that went on our 2005+ GTs were only $175 and were very good material. Norman is suggesting they are going to charge him $400 for just the striping on the bumper, not the entire car, which to me is way too expensive.

Vandy, here is your complete stripe kit for just $199 specific to your GT500. Its cut from 3m film and is of good quality as we have had a few members order from them with great results.

Baltimore Street Mods does not have a 2010+ GT500 stripe kit available yet. Here is a link to the 2010+ GT lemans stripe kit for $175

See that's why we keep u around. I was looking at some and all I could find were around 650ish. For that id paint them on. For your price that can very easily be a winter project

Also I thought that was for the whole car, I wouldn't let them just do a partial, they fade way too fast, hell mine are 2 different shades, you can't really tell by looming at them but they show up in pics, from what I've been told they were prob from different tape runs?

On a car as new as Ryan's, I would be fine just doing the damaged area. After 3 years of sunfade Vandy, I would redo your whole car.

But my assumption is that the shop has to order the full kit, so they charge you/insurance for it too.

When I wrecked mine they had to remove the rocker panel striping to repaint. when it came time to put them back on I asked not to, but they ordered them anyway and it was still on the invoice when it got out. what happened to them, I'll never know.

Yea Tousley Ford is another place people get their stripes, but they want around $595 to $650 like you mentioned. I dunno, all stripes fade over time, the 3m film from Boston that David and Paul put on their 2006 GT's was looking great even up until they sold their rides. For $199 its a darn good deal. The install isnt that bad either, David and Paul installed their own and it turned out great.
