Shelby GT500 vs 03/04 SVT Cobra
Found this old article from MM&FF where they put two similarly modded cars up against each other. Shows baseline performance #'s as well as Modded #'s. Thought it was pretty cool!! Pretty neat to see how the extra 50 cubic inches effects the power/torque output. Almost 100 more ft lbs of torque in favor of the GT500. All in all...a great article.

Article Quotes about the Shelby:
""It ain't got enough tire." It was obvious a GT 500 with minimal bolt-ons launching with a decent set of slicks would easily be a 10-second performer."
"Another amazing thing about the Condor is its consistency. With the hard scientific work out of the way, Paul allowed just about anybody on the track grounds to have a shot at his GT 500. No matter how inexperienced the pilot, the thing never went any slower than the high 11s, always at a trap speed above 120 mph."
"So what did this prove? Well, for one thing, the truth of the old axiom that "there's no substitute for cubic inches." With similar mods, the Condor produces about 100 lb-ft more torque than the Terminator, basically across the board. And torque is like having a gorilla on your side-albeit one that's sometimes hard to tame."

Pretty good read, I'm sure me and Chris are partial to the Terminator where as you are to the GT500. I love my car and like GT500's though.

Re: Shelby GT500 vs 03/04 SVT Cobra
I have owned an 03 Cobra and presently own an 08 Shelby GT500. The Terminator was a beast with unrefined raw power. The seats were uncomfortable and the sound system was anemic. However, you could wake it up with a chip, pulley, tune, exhaust and throw in a short-throw shifter and 305's on the rear and she turned into a monster. If you really got radical with upgraded supercharger and internals it could be almost too much to handle. The Shelby GT500 is more refined and is better for touring. It has more power but you don't feel it as much. The newer ones have bigger tires in the rear but probably should be even bigger. Other than that the 2011 GT500 is the best Mustang ever made; it is what all earlier GT500's should have been. With the advent of the 550hp Camaro ZL1, Ford will hopefully come out with a 600hp TVS supercharged GT500 and maybe someday we will see the 6.2liter monster that dreams are made of. Long live the muscle car wars.

AMEN x2! Well said David!
Although I believe I am the best driver ever made...therefore by association my pre 2011 GT500 is best
.....and on a side note....my 2.59 pulley and tune arrive Friday.
