Heads up on the Kicker Car Show...
Ok, dont know if this will change anyones opinion, but I talked to the coordinator of the event to let her know we would be coming, and they would be super excited if we could come both days. I told her it may be hard for us to attend both days, and she said that was a bummer, as they have a lot of stuff planned.
First off, they told us if we come down on saturday, they can give us a vip tour of the facility (all but r&d) and that they could do lots of other things we would enjoy as a mustang club.
On sunday, we will still make judging as long as we are there by 10am. And they are also doing the door prizes.
What days do we plan to do this as a club? Need to make arrangements to see what they need to do to accomodate us.
Also, will there be any alternate modes of transportation or people just spectating? The wife wants to go, but doesnt want to be stuck at KICKER all day.
We are thinking about getting a hotel for the night. Microtel has a 2 queen bed for 82.99, not bad...

Re: Heads up on the Kicker Car Show...
it just seems like this whole 2 day thing is the killer... i know that it would be hard for me even if i was showing to make both days... a cheap hotel would be nice if it was a "group rate cheap". but as far as saturday anything such as a tour would be cool.. I still gotta sign up for my official membership... Will that be possible at this show?

Re: Heads up on the Kicker Car Show...
I would love to go and spend the day in stillwater. I have gone back to a few games the last few years, but would love to just go. I will not go back and forth and will not pay to stay there. Getting a plaque or trophy doesnt really matter to me, I just like to crusise and hang out. If people are in it for the trophy, maybe we should reschedule and find a better car show to attend.
Or maybe we should take this weekend to take a cruise to Talimena? I am in either way, I just want everyone to come out and have a good time!

I agree with Chris. 10 years ago a tour may have been cool but after the 3rd one the place kinda looks the same. And driving back and forth/hotel seems silly. I like the Talimena idea personally, but also up for whatever!

Derek i would never speak for the club or the pres but i think anywhere Paul (2006GT) goes you can sign up with him. I'm pretty sure the stuff stays in his trunk all the time. (Yes i'll say it, the man has junk in his trunk)
Re: Heads up on the Kicker Car Show...
Yea, just figured since there was a debate on what day to go, having an itinerary of what was going on each day, and the people who wanted the trophy shot wanted to make sure that if we went Saturday we were eligible.
My only concern in this (my wife brought this up), is that this is the KICKER Car Show, so it is widely centered around sound systems. Out of the 20 cars we may enter, there is a good shot only 1 or 2 of us will win (Best Domestic, Best in Show, Top 30 are our only hope).
Starting to think Saturday's Exhibition showing would be more fun.
Jimmy, when did you tour the facility? Last year they called it a tour, but it was just the speaker wall and the showroom that we got to see. This will be how they build and test the speakers...

Re: Heads up on the Kicker Car Show...
What was the situation when they did the tour before? They told me they dont do them very often...
Re: Heads up on the Kicker Car Show...
I haven't chimed in on this simply because I worked at Kicker in R&D for three years doing Design Engineering, and I don't really like very many of the people there anymore, (one of the reasons I left in 2009). Anyway, a "tour" of the facility is not very spectacular. It's just a big warehouse, and some office cubes. The architecture is kinda cool, but the install shop is not even at that location. Last time I heard, the install shop was still over at the old building North of Town, so a tour is not really a huge deal. Just FYI

used to know some R&D guys there, also used to work for Chevrolet in OKC and we went a few times. But again, it never was an "OMG thats so amazing" kind of thing. Maybe when I was 18 and stereos were "all the rage" but not anymore.
Id still be in for the cruise down and the sat show, maybe find somewhere we can all eat? We like stillwater.
Re: Heads up on the Kicker Car Show...
yeah, trust me, I've been into every area of that place and there are NO OMG monents there. I like Stillwater alot though. Usually nice and quiet.
