WOT Box Mod
http://www.npcompleteperformance.com/wotbox
It cuts ignition for a period of time (20-700 ms) to keep the engine from revving during the shift, letting the synchros do their job.
How does the WOT Box work?
The split second that you place your foot on the clutch pedal with the throttle all the way down, a signal is sent to the WOT Box that a shift has been initiated. When the module sees the signal from the clutch switch it will reduce engine power by cutting the ignition. The ignition control is a precise timed event that the user has complete control of. The box is capable of controlling ignition from 25 milliseconds to 700 milliseconds in 25 millisecond increments. With a range like that the wot box can even make Mr. Magoo look like a seasoned pro!
Some Quotes from other forums:
"Just to gain some clarity here....to my understanding the WOT box is used for power shifting at high rpm's. However, it can also be used as a solution to eliminate 1-2 shift grinding?
If you sat a friend in the car that had no idea what a WOT box was, you start slamming gears and dropping the clutch...I think he would look at you like you were insane. I think the 2-step feature is great for those you like to track as well.
Anyway...as remarkable as this device is, it wouldnt have been required, if Ford had engineered the clutch/transmission a little a better. After all, ownership of a Shelby doesnt come cheap. While they have improved the quality of the vehicle...I still cant rap my head around the fact that these are well known issues, and still they have not (or will not due to cost) come up with a solution.
Regardless, the WOT box is a cheap mod, and in my opinion well worth having (grinding issues or not), as it well more than likely increase the longevity of your transmission. I know a few other members have mentioned that they have a WOT box...it would be great to hear their input."
"The wotbox will eliminate high rpm shifting problems because it blipps the ignition allowing the gears to mesh easily, installed it on mine and couldnt be happier.....anyone with the 1-2 shift issue like I have needs one of these....its the best thing to get around the 1-2 shift grind or reject, I held my breathe the first time i tried it because i knew it was gonna cost me a tranny if it didnt work, I said screw it im gonna pull back as hard as i can with my foot planted and when i did it seemed like i could have wot shifted 1-2 with 20% of the effort i gave it on my first try.....the blipp of the ignition is no longer then it would take the average person to powershift, its the smallest of disengagement time....i have mine set for 275ms and its perfect....i set mine up with the button and flash chart but you can download the program online and plug the box in via usb and set it up that way aswell...if you dont have a wotbox get one....."
Question: "Does this cut the ignition on all shifts i.e. non WOT shifts? or just when you have the pedal to the metal?"
Answer: "o it only cuts ignition once your foot hits the floor pan and stays their, it picks up the clutch signal and blips the ignition while you powershift through the gears.....here is my car on the wotbox, I am powershifting every gear but it sounds like im on off throttle(i am not) this was with the box set manually to 350ms when I firt got it, i now have it set to 150ms and the pause is much less.....but beleive me it works amazing, i went from 133-134 mph trap speeds to a best of 140.20."

Definitely will look into getting one.
As for the video...guy swears he never let off the gas....that the Box was set to 350 ms when he first got it. Since then he has changed it to 150ms

I dont see the need to powershift while road racing. This is more of a drag racing mod.

Re: WOT Box Mod
Very cool. Anything I can get to increase the life of my transmission is good! I'm a little hard on gear boxes.
