F150 Code P0136 Empty F150 Code P0136

Post by Guest 7/13/2010, 10:20 pm

Alright my check engine light came on this morning on the way to work. Pulled the code and got P0136 (Bank 1 Sensor 2) O2 circuit sensor malfunction. My question for you guys is where is Bank 1 Sensor 2 (an I right to say passenger side before cat) and should I try something first before replacing the O2 sensor, and how important is this? Should I leave it parked until fixed or can it be drivin for a week? Any help is always appreciated. Thanks!

Passenger side yes... Sensor 2 is after the cat.

Mikey... is it running fine? How many miles?

Could be a bad sensor... Although O2 sensors are replaced in error more than any other car part. But they do go bad...

Check the wiring... make sure sure the connector is not damaged, etc. An exhaust leak can also cause this code. This is actually pretty common.

It may have just be an error of an error code. Reboot the computer by removing the batt cable for 30 mins (just to be sure) and reconnect. See if the code comes back.

Yah I have not had any problems with it, not running rough or anything. It has about 137K on it.

I will remove the battery cable tonight and see if that does it, then go from there. Thanks Paul.

You should be ok to drive it. With that mileage, it's probably just gone bad or clogged up. If it is past the cat, could be signs of the catlytic converter going bad. I'd start by replacing the battery, then checking for leaks. If that doesn't fix it, take it to Leonard for a new O2 sensor, should be good to go.

No need to replace the battery... just remove the cable for a 30 mins or so. If that doesn't work, do the other stuff.

I think it's the headlight fluid.

Replacing battery cables is never a bad idea, though

Apparently they were more prevalent in Regency's, like yours, the ones that got abandoned by their owners. lonely

Careful, Michael, Jerry has one too.
