body work finally
finally getting the gt/cs rear bumper and cervini's ram air hood (1171) painted and installed. the good thing is i won't have to pay for the bumper and door ding repair. the bumper got minor damage while i was parked along with the door ding. looks like someone hit the door with a rock. it goes in on the 1st. by the 9th or so i'll have some pics.

Re: body work finally
Very carefully... Heat guns work well just be careful with the heat. This is about the worst time of the year to remove stripes.... cold weatherwise....
It really comes down to how long the stripes have been on and the quality of vinyl. The good stuff is actually easier to remove.

Re: body work finally
To be safe I'd use a blow dryer. Like Paul said warm is the key. Also this is when you find out the quality of vinyl you were sold. The good stuff comes off in large pieces and the cheap stuff breaks constantly in little tiny pieces. I also noticed that the rear bumper area seems to deteriorate faster even with the good stuff.

Re: body work finally
well it was put on in the middle of 07 and for the most part it was always in the garage. it was a good quality i think as it does come off in large pieces unless i just try to rip it up fast. it is just a good finger work out peeling so much off. i did use a heat gun, but it's hard to keep it warm when i'm the only one there. can't hold the gun and peel at the same time.

Re: body work finally
omfg. picked up my car tonight and holy freaking cow. looks killer, but................
1 they did a piss poor job of sanding and buffing. still has horrible orange peel so it's going back again probably next week.
2. i was leaving and there was something dragging. stopped looked under the car and f(*&. the left side exhaust past the xpipe was completely bent around the axle and scraping on the drive shaft. so now it also has to go to the muffler shop to get it fixed. the shop is paying for this.
i'll get some pics tomorrow after work.

Re: body work finally
the outcome, but still have to take it back for some hood repair and a wet sand and polish. i won't recommend this place to anyone. hood very well might need to be completely repainted. the pics do absolutely no justice. the top of the ram air looks completely amazing in the sun and black at night. the color is called crimson black, basically black with a red flake.
